Abrasive Wheel

There are no products to list in this category.

Carbon cup wheels are an abrasive and polishing material used in the processing of natural stone. These products offer particularly effective solutions for on-site floor polishing and restoration. Their name derives from both their shape (cup) and their primary binding agent (carbon).

What are Carbon Cup Stones?

Carbon cup wheels are disc- or cup-shaped abrasives manufactured by combining abrasive particles (usually silicon carbide ) with a carbon binder. This binder increases the stone's hardness and abrasive performance. These wheels are mounted on floor polishing machines and are effective in removing surface roughness, scratches, and stains.

Areas of Use and Features

Carbon cup wheels are preferred for polishing and cleaning natural stones, especially marble and travertine.

  • High Abrasive Power: Thanks to its silicon carbide content, it effectively removes the damaged layer on the stone surface.

  • Durability: The carbon binder ensures the stone's longevity and high performance.

  • Versatility: It is produced in various grit numbers to be used in different stages from coarse grinding to polishing.

  • Wet Use: Generally suitable for wet grinding processes. Water both prevents dust formation and increases abrasion efficiency.

Types

Carbon cup stones are used for different purposes depending on their grit size:

  • Low grit sizes (e.g., 36, 60): Used for coarse polishing. This is preferred initially to remove deep scratches and large irregularities on the surface.

  • Medium Grit Numbers (e.g. 120, 220): Used after coarse grinding to smooth the surface and prepare it for the next polishing stage.
